摘要
Lattice-dynamics and molecular-dynamics studies of very thin free crystalline films have been carried out, and three effects have been studied in detail: The first is a drastic change in the distribution of vibrational frequencies with respect to the distribution for the bulk. The second is an anomalous increase in the mean-square amplitudes of vibration. The third is an instability in three-layer films with (110) surfaces which leads to a structural transformation in such films. © 1969 The American Physical Society.
