摘要：
Individuals infected with HIV-1 acquire defects in nearly every part of the host defense system and develop many different types of infections, including those caused by bacteria, yeast, and members of Eumycetes. Bacterial infections are easily treated, but they frequently disseminate and recur. In contrast, fungal infections are difficult to treat and frequently require lifelong suppressive therapy.
