摘要
The Auger capture processes for highly charged ions moving inside a metal are studied, using linear response theory and the dielectric formalism. We have calculated the capture probabilities to 1s, 2s and 3s hydrogenic orbitals from the metal conduction band, as a function of the nuclear charge and the velocity of the incident ion. We have also obtained the intraatomic transition rates between different s and p orbitals, and compared these results with the Auger capture rates from the conduction band electrons. The knowledge of these rates is needed to calculate the Auger spectra of emitted electrons.
