摘要
A novel high-resolution, high-dispersion x-ray spectrometer has been used to make accurate measurements of motional Doppler shifts in x-rays emitted from a laser-produced aluminum plasma. Doppler shifts of the resonance lines of hydrogenic and helium-like ions, as well as the lithium-like dielectronic satellites, have been used to infer ion velocities. The velocities of the ions emitting dielectronic satellite radiation are lower than those of the resonance lines, indicating that the emission is being produced closer to the ablation surface.
