Solubility measurements of naphthalene in water and water + alcohol solutions (methanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, 1-butanol, and 2-methy l-2-propanol), ranging from 278.15 to 313.15 K, are reported. Thermodynamic functions of transfer and pair Gibbs free energy interaction parameters, gNA, at 298.15 K have been obtained. The solubilities increase with the amount of alcohol in the mixtures. The entropy of transfer governs the sign of the Gibbs free energy of transfer. © 1990, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
