The article analyzes the self-organized learning in empirical educational research on personal learning environments (PLE). The investigations were obtained from important documentary sources (journal's indexed articles, conference proceedings, books and theses). The analysis has generated three categories: the self-organized learning of teachers and their competences on TIC, the relationship between the digital and informational skills and the self-management of learning, and the role of self-management of learning on "learning to learn". Nowadays they are interesting and emerging topics and, undoubtedly, they are trends of future research.
