摘要
Optical spectroscopy (absorption luminescence and decay time measurements) of Cr3+ and Nd3+ ions in doubly doped LiNbO3:Cr, Nd has been applied in order to investigate energy transfer processes. Experimental results reveal that energy transfer occurs from Cr3+ to Nd3+ ions via a radiative process instead of a non-radiative one. Analysis of the data indicates that the impurity is not randomly distributed and that Cr3+-Nd3+ pairs separated by a distance greater than 8 angstrom may be formed. A tentative model for these Cr3+-Nd3+ pairs is proposed.
