摘要
C-13 NMR and IR spectra of fourteen 3-substituted 4-nitropyridine N-oxides have been recorded and discussed. It was found that the effect of the nitro group on chemical shift and the so-called backdonation is modified by electronegativity and the size of the substituent present in the 3-position of the pyridine ring.
