摘要
Evidence of a 100 kpc scale X-ray halo around the starburst galaxy M82 has been obtained by Ginga observations. The halo extends northward from the nucleus with 2-10 keV luminosity of approximately 4 x 10(39) erg s-1. Source contaminations have been shown to be very unlikely as the origin of the halo. The temperature is poorly constrained to be 1-11 keV, and the mass of the hot gas would be about 10(8) M circle bullet. Though this large-scale halo could be a result of mass outflow associated with the starburst, it is puzzling how such a hot, large halo can be confined around the galaxy.
