This study draws on insights from empirical theology, sociological analysis and the Gospel of Mark to argue that discipleship learning deserves a high priority in the agenda of the rural church. The implications of placing discipleship high on the agenda of the rural church are illustrated by reference to the strategy and vision statement of the Diocese of Bangor (Learning Church) and to the BA in Theology for Discipleship and Ministry offered by Glyndwr University in association with the St Mary's and St Giles' Centre.
