摘要
Introduction: 10 to 45% of population older than 65 years present with depressive symptoms, reinforced by mnemic difficulties that affects autoefficacy levels. It is possible that some of those depressive symptoms could be diminished by cognitive functioning stimulation. Objective: describe changes in mood states after participating in a group program of cognitive stimulation. Materials and Methods: eight cognitively health woman between 60 to 70 years old were selected. They were cognitively trained in 20 sessions lasting one hour each one, distributed 3 times per week for two months. They were evaluated pre and pos test. Results: there was no statistic difference, probably attributed to the sample size. Nevertheless there was a clinically observable improvement in depressive symptoms. Conclusions: cognitive training beyond showing benefit directly to superior mental processing could be influencing positively over the mood states.
