Treatment and aftercare of fractures of the distal part of the radius

Distal radius fracture is the most common fracture of the human skeleton. The treatment indicated depends on the type of fracture as classified according to the AO system and associated therapy and aftertreatment, on the degree of stability. The present literature gives no uniform recommendations for aftertreatment. Associated therapy and aftertreatment are mostly tailored to the individual patient with different elements of physiotherapy, such as proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, manual therapy, Vojta therapy and ergotherapy. Complications after distal radius fracture, such as complex regional pain syndrome or paralysis in particular, need multimodel treatment adapted to the stage of disease.
