摘要：
Various synthetic methods for the preparation of the title compound (1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoin) are described, and some new mechanistic aspects are discussed. Besides the well-known procedures utilizing sodium hydroxide or carbonate, we have found that sodium bicarbonate can be also used for the synthesis, but the reaction proceeds by a different pathway.
