The majority of the material presented in this paper draws from the rolling loss studies published between 1980 and 1990, focusing on the major trends. It includes a general definition of tyre rolling loss, outdoor rolling loss tests, rolling loss and fuel economy, tyre-road-suspension losses, tyre temperature, tyre material and processing optimisation and rolling loss models.
