摘要
The major processing variables of the chlorination of α-methylstyrene were studied. Selectivities of α-methylstyrene to 2-phenylallyl chloride of 90% at 30% conversion were achieved by operating at 500° C. and 0.025-second reaction time. High temperatures and short reaction times followed by immediate quenching of the reaction product are the most important factors governing the formation of 2-phenylallyl chloride in high selectivities. © 1969, American Chemical Society.
