THERMAL UTILIZATION OF FUEL-OIL AND NATURAL-GAS

Fuel oil and natural gas are user-optimized fuels. They entail modest capital expenditure, require little personnel and produce few pollutants during combustion. Moreover they offer opportunities for a rational cogeneration in conjunction with engines and gasturbines. Unfortunately, the use of these precious energy sources is limited as to time. From todays view the reserves will last only for the next 60 years. There is, however, no fear of a skyrocketing rise in the prices of these energy sources, since additional reserves are continuously exploited. Installations for the gasification and liquefaction of coal will have a further price stabilizing effect. Therefore, the development of installation technics on the basis of such rare fuels as gas and oil does not lead into an impasse of energy shortage because the enormous coal reserves of the world are at our disposal in order to be utilized as rare fuels in highly efficient energy facilities.
