GERMAN NUCLEAR-POWER-PLANTS - PERFORMANCE IN 1993

The nineteen nuclear power plants in operation in Germany in 1993, with an installed capacity of 21,663 MWe gross and 20,649 MWe net, converted a total of 153,525 GWh of nuclear energy into electric power, which is 3.3% less than the 158,840 GWh of 1992. The average availability in terms of time was 82.5%, capacity availability was 82.6%, and capacity utilization was 77.4%. No accident occurred in the German nuclear power plants in 1993 which could have endangered the personnel in the plants or the public in the vicinity. The performance data of the nuclear generating units are quoted, in excerpts, from the 1993 Annual Report published by the Committee for Operating Experience (ABE Committee) in the Technical Association of Large Power Plant Operators (VGB).
