摘要
Background: To report 7 cases of topiramate-induced angle closure glaucoma. Case Report: We present 7 cases of angle closure glaucoma after topiramate administration for neuropsychological disorders. All patients were female. The average age of patients was 33.28 years (ranging from 19 to 44 years). The mean interval between drug administration and symptoms onset was 12.2 days (ranging from 4 to 30 days). The mean best corrected visual acuity was 3 meters counting fingers in both eyes. The mean refractive errors was -6.50 diopters (ranging from -3.00 to -12.00 diopters). The mean intraocular pressure was 44.71 mmHg (ranging from 34 to 60 mmHg). The mean normalization time of intraocular pressure was 12.30 hours (ranging from 8 to 23 hours). Conclusions: Acute myopia and acute angle closure glaucoma are serious adverse effects of topiramate use, both of which are reversible with immediate discontinuation of the drug. Thus, obtaining the drug history of the patients is critical in evaluation of angle closure glaucoma.
