A complete system for cleavage of water by light (250‐W lamp) comprises the catalysts Pt and RuO2 and the sensitizer Ru(bpy) 32+ as well as the acceptor methylviologen (MV2+). 150 ml of solution gave 0.6 ml of H2 and 0.3 ml of O2 in h.
