摘要
This article presents the results of a multi case study done in four supermarkets located in the city of Fortaleza, Ceara, focusing the analysis of the impacts with the use of Distribution Centers on the operational results and the service level of the enterprises. Data was collected based on the size of the physical structure of the stores and the Distributions Centers, as well as the geographic position, business relations with suppliers, operational efficiency and services offered to customers. Store and Distribution Center managers and a controller were interviewed to answer questions that clarify the logistics operation of their companies. A bibliographical study was proceeded to base the analysis of the dissertation, as well as quantitative data supplied by institutes of statistics and economy. The study presented positive conclusions that the use of Distribution Centers in supermarket stores results in improvements in sourcing, distribution and operational efficiency. It was noticed the need of a better professional management to reach the totality of the expected impacts.
