The most available studies concern the use of immunosuppressive drugs - tacrolimus and cyclosporin in the treatment of vernal and atopic keratoconjunctivitis. The mechanism of action of immunosuppressive drugs is to inhibit the activity of T lymphocytes, which consequently leads to the inhibition of gene transcription for such cytokines as interleukin 2, 3, 4 and 5 as well as interferon. or tumor necrosis factor.
