Few studies regarding the social effects of surgical treatment of obesity are published, and most of those that have been published can be criticized on methodologic grounds. However, all studies show the same results: the patient's quality of life improves, working ability increases, social and physical activities expand, psychological disturbances decrease, interpersonal relationships improve, and sex life becomes better.
