摘要：

The role of the European glass industry in the rapidly changing social and economic conditions in the world is evaluated. It is believed that economic and industrial mechanisms are restructuring globally in a highly competitive environment. As the 21st century is approaching, in order to fulfil the demands of a global market, there is a definite need for searching and activating all the capabilities in science and technology to carry the glass industry to new horizons.
