摘要
The influence of water deficit in roots and leaves of local and K 2 mulberry (Morus alba L.) was studied for nucleic acid and RNase levels. The water potential decreased with decrease in soil moisture. DNA and RNA levels decreased in local cultivar from early stages of water deficit while in K 2 they decreased only under prolonged stress treatments. RNase was inhibited in local cultivar while in K 2 cultivar there was no change under stress treatments. The observed modulations indicated the better adaptive nature of K 2 over local cultivar in response to low moisture regimes.
