摘要
Coarse and fine grained Si3N4 was studied in regard to the thermal shock behaviour in water quench tests. Due to the difference in the microstructure continuous and catastrophic strength loss was measured. The thermal shock damage behaviour is discussed fracture mechanically using the concept of R-curves. A lamp irradiation equipment for thermal loading was used to measure the R-curve of the fine grained material precisely.
