EFFECT OF SENSITIZATION ON THERMALLY STIMULATED DISCHARGE CURRENT OF POLYVINYL ACETATE

Thermally stimulated discharge currents (TSDCs) in short circuit configuration have been studied as a function of sensitizer concentration on polyvinyl acetate films of thickness of about 20-mu-m sensitized with ferrocen and malachite green. The TSDC spectra have been found to be characterized with three peaks; first and second peaks are observed at 333 +/- 5 K and 383 +/- 5 K, respectively, in the negative direction and a third peak at 413 K in the positive direction, i.e. opposite to both the peaks. The phenomenon of the existence of these current maxima has been discussed and analyzed in terms of dipolar and space charge polarization.
