Apparent viscosity of Al-Cu alloys partly solidifed at a constant cooling rate was measured in terms of the torque value, and the structure of primary solid particles or dendrites was observed during water quenching, starting from the stirring temperature. Regardless of the copper concentration, solid particles became finer and sperical as the stirring progressed.
