In the first years of the Soviet power in the territory of Siberia funds of library of Tomsk university were replenished with a number of book collections. Library of the Russian officer Mikhail Arkadyevich Polumordvinov (1867-1917) was one of such libraries. Polumordvinov have collected a private library, interesting on the structure, which was equitable to his professional interests. The majority of books in her cover different aspects of life of the countries of the Far East: Manchuria, Mongolia, China, Korea and Japan. The most part of books belong to military science. Here literature of military, geographical, historical character generally in Russian figures prominently. However there is a small block of books in foreign languages: several books on Chinese, Japanese, German. Because M. A. Polumordvinov cooperated with editorial office of the Bulletin of Asia magazine and was an editor of several of his releases, in his library there is a selection of this magazine in 8 years from 1909 to 1916. The main part of books of a collection has been published at the beginning of the 20th century. However editions of earlier period of time meet. In the early 1990th in department of manuscripts and book monuments of Scientific library Tomsk state university have made the decision on restoration of library of Polumordvinov. 251 copies are at the moment revealed. In the 1910th Mikhail Arkadyevich has begun to put a general view of the meeting in order. About a half of books are dressed in identical covers. On some bound books there were labels of a binding workshop of shop of baroness S. N. Wrangel in Harbin. Therefore it is possible to assume that M. A. Polumordvinov has begun to bind books from the private library in the period of service in Harbin. World War I has prevented to finish the begun business probably. This library is in a stage of the formation so far. But already now it is possible to tell that this very interesting collection of books on East history. So far M. A. Polumordvinov's library wasn't object of special research and at present the first steps on the way to her studying are taken.
