THE ANALYSIS OF REPEATED MEASURES DESIGNS INVOLVING MULTIPLE DEPENDENT-VARIABLES

Experimental designs involving repeated measures may be analyzed using traditional ANOVA methods (if all assumptionsare met), or, given sufficient sample size, with a MANOVA-typeprocedure (if only some assumptions are met). Recent statisticaladvances have made possible the extension of these procedures torepeated measures experimental designs involving multipledependent variables. This tutorial presents the concepts, completeexamples (including computer control commands), andinterpretations for four methods of testing differences amongmeans in a mixed model repeated measures design. The fourmethods of analysis are: The traditional ANOVA and theMANOVA method for the single dependent variable case, and aMultivariate Mixed Model analysis and a Doubly Multivariateanalysis for the multiple dependent variable case. © 1987 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
