摘要
The validity of the JWKB approximation as applied to black hole normal modes is discussed as a possible source of the discrepancy between the quasinormal frequency values computed by Guinn et al in their recent letter and those computed by the method of continued fractions. For Regge-Wheeler-like potentials and large frequency magnitudes, an analytic JWKB approximation is suggested that can be expressed in terms of complete elliptic integrals.
