摘要:
The influence of current redistribution among strands on the quench in a superconducting cable is studied. A theoretical model is developed taking into account nonuniformities in strands. Three different current redistribution modes are shown to exist, depending on the initial current I-0. It is found that at I-0 lower than some threshold current I-0* the inductively initiated quench of the whole cable is impossible. The obtained analytical dependence of I-0* on the cable length is in a good agreement with the experimental data.
