摘要
Simple approximate solutions due to Jaffar and Johnson for the indentation by a rigid frictionless punch of a thin elastic layer on a rigid foundation are extended to the corresponding general three-dimensional problem. Results are given for the case where an incompressible layer is indented by an ellipsoidal punch and an analogy is demonstrated between the flat punch problem with arbitrary plan-form and the St Venant torsion problem. © 1990.
