Challenges of the new constitutionalism in Latin America

In this article, the author makes a historical review of the constitutional charters issued since the late eighteenth century. Then the author focuses on a consideration of the constitutional experiences of some Latin American countries. Lastly, he addresses the following challenges of constitutionalism in Latin America in the twenty-first century: a) the public knowledge of the contents of the Constitution; b) their effective applicability; c) the training of professionals in constitutional matters; and d) the acquainting of society with the juridical rules.
