ABSORPTION-BANDS IN THE ABSORPTION-EDGE REGION OF P-TERPHENYL CRYSTALS

摘要：
The absorption spectra in the absorption edge region of p-terphenyl crystals have been investigated. At higher temperature, two Gaussian bands have been found in the low energy region of the b-polarized absorption spectrum. These bands are attributed to the planar configuration of the molecule, which is induced by the torsional oscillation of the central phenyl rings of p-terphenyl molecules.
