EVIDENCE FOR A LOW-ENERGY S-WAVE PI-PI INTERACTION AND A POSSIBLE DOUBLY CHARGED DIBARYON ENHANCEMENT

The reaction N + N → d + 2π has been studied at an energy of 991 MeV. using a missing mass spectrometer. The results are consistent with a recent phase-shift analysis of the I = 0 π - π interaction [11, 12], showing structure not evident in earlier experiments. In addition, possible evidence for a di-baryon resonance of mass 2.10 GeV/c2 was obtained, in support of earlier evidence for such a phenomenon. © 1969.
