New hexyl-substituted oligothiophenes (sexi-, novi-, duodeci-, and quindeci-thiophenes) were prepared by a Ni(0)-catalyzed coupling reaction of a 5,5''-dibromo-3,3''-dihexyl-2,2':5',2''-therthiophene. The structures were determined by H-1 NMR spectre, GPC data, and elemental analyses. Their pi-pi* transitions were compared with those of poly(alkylthiophenes).
