FAMILY AND GENDER INTERSECTIONS REGARDING PUBLIC POLICY

Objective. To link the analysis of the intersections between the categories of family and gender in the study of public policies and how they are reflected in their design and effectiveness. Method. This requires having multiple categories of analysis for processes where changes occur in family formation and the incorporation of the gender category to understand the complex processes regarding production and sexual reproduction of labor and gender socialization in family life. Results and conclusions. The existence in practice of a traditional structure of gender roles and identities assigned and assumed by men and women has placed the latter in the "carers" role, reason why public policies, particularly the social policies, have taken this for granted without sufficient assessment of the strengthening of gender inequalities in the family environment.
