摘要
1. 1. Studies on the carbohydrate metabolism of the locust nervous system were made with intact and homogenized thoracic ganglia. 2. 2. In aerobic conditions in vitro only 3-5% of the glucose utilized formed lactate. 3. 3. Glycogen and trehalose seemed to constitute the most important endogenous stores of energy. 4. 4. The maximum specific activity of lactate dehydrogenase was 10 μmol/g per min at 37°C, much lower than in mammalian nervous tissue. 5. 5. The maximum specific activities of hexokinase and phosphofructokinase (between 1 and 6 μmol/g per min) were lower than those of both the locust flight muscle and of mammalian nervous tissue. © 1979.
