Total electron scattering cross-sections (elastic + absorption) for the first four alkanes (CH4, C2H6, C3H8, C4H10), three alkenes (C2H4, C3H6, C4H8), one alkyne (C2H2) and one arene (C6H6) have been calculated in the incident energy range 100-500 eV. The molecular scattering amplitude has been calculated in the independent scattering centre approximation and the total cross-section is obtained via optical theorem. The present results have been compared with the experimental data and other theoretical calculations available.
