摘要
The author of this paper reflects on the novel The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing, describing it as a complex postmodern novel in which Lessing experiments with the form of the novel through techniques of metafiction, intertextuality and hybridity. In this paper, the author focuses especially on the metafiction technique, viewed as the most dominant post-modern technique in the novel, highlighting exclusively fragmentation in the service of metafiction. Thus, the intention is to show that in addition to metafictional techniques, fragmentation can also serve the author in his presentation of fictional nature of the work. The paper shows that Lessing uses fragmented forms of her novel to point to his fictional and artificial nature, classifying it into one of the earliest and most important British metafictional novels.
