摘要
The article presents information on sociological research from the Netherlands on the more austere lifestyle of higher status groups, e.g. the use of cars, fuel, clothing and others aspects of consumption relevant to the environment. Researching the motivation behind this, W. Aarts and C. Schmidt stress both the social prestige of voluntary moderation and the high level of environmental awareness. They suggest the probable future social spread by means of a trickle-down effect to lower social strata.
