ELECTROLYTE DIFFUSION AND CRYSTAL-GROWTH IN POLYESTERS

摘要
Growth of potassium sulfate crystals within internal disk cracks in polyester samples proves thc occurrence of diffusion of large anionic groups (SO42-) through the polymer. The crystals grow when the polymer sheets are exposed to a saturated K2SO4 solution, and nucleate as a result of relaxation, near the glass transition temperature, which causes ion supersaturation.
