摘要
The author analyzes recent German scholarly literature on World War I. He concludes that many of the sources under consideration emphasize the tendencies of development and continuity during the century of world wars. Not only do they focus on historical events but also mentality. The culture of war memory took shape before November 1918 and was reflected in the construction of monuments in the rear and frontline. World War I changed the perception of the structures of time, making a rapid adoption of current historic experience possible, which contributed to the transformation of the image of the future.
