摘要
This article exposes the main characteristics of the philosophies of moral duty and those that explain human action from the moral sentiment. Those philosophies are opposite in many points, but they coincide in the opposition between human senses and reason. Both philosophical proposals have repercussions in the Ethics, in the Right and in the Pedagogy, which end up receiving strong rationalistic influence or sentimental. We confront those two systems with the current "Virtue Ethics", which intends to leave the appeared impasse of the debate among the two previous theories starting from the rediscovery of thinkers like Aristotle and St. Thomas Aquinas. Nowadays, the "Virtue Ethics" assumes the collaboration of researchers from several contemporary sciences, such as Sociology, Neuroscience and Political Philosophy.
