War and oligarchic State emergence in Latin America. Re-reading Fernando Lopez-Alves y Miguel Angel Centeno throughout the political consequences of the Pacific War (1879-1883) in Bolivia and Peru

In this article we aim to address about the existing reciprocal relationships between the war and the oligarchic State formation in Latin America. To that end, we will go through the ideas of two researchers - the philosopher and political scientist Fernando Lopez-Alves and the sociologist Miguel Angel Centeno-throughout the Pacific War, developed between Chile, Bolivia y Peru during 1879-1883. The comparative analysis of its political consequences in Bolivia and Peru, will allow us to reaffirm or submit to discussion some hypotesis of the authors, in order to reconsider connections between war and State from a interdisciplinary approach between sociology, political sciences and history.
