A COMPUTATION FOR THE BOUNDARY-VALUE PROBLEM OF A DOUBLE-TUBE HEAT-EXCHANGER

The boundary value problems of u low Piclet number flow in a double-tube heat exchanger for an arbitrary velocity profile are analyzed by linear operator methods. The induced eigen equation, of which the eigenvalues are combined in the final boundary condition, is solved by an approximation method. A computational algorithm is then proposed for computing the eigenvalues and expansion coefficients of the solution by an efficient recursive formula. The correctness of the proposed algorithm is verified by Parse vol's relation and demonstrated by three examples. © 1990 by Hemisphere Publishing Corporation.
