摘要
The fast atom bombardment (FAB) desorbed chlorophyll molecular ions are formed with less internal energy and undergo less fragmentation than those desorbed from thin films. This may be due to the effect of the FAB matrix, which modifies the strong aggregation of chlorophyll molecules in the solid phase. Two other approaches for disrupting chlorophyll aggregation are doping the sample with an alkali salt, or extruding the Mg atom to give the corresponding pheophytin. Reactions of chlorophyll with the FAB matrix, however, are problematic for accurately determining purity of chlorophyll samples.
