摘要
A 2-ns 95-GHz short pulse radar is being evaluated as an environmental remote sensor at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. The initial tests of the radar were conducted in a wave tank where the water surface undulations can be controlled and monitored and the measured radar backscatter can be related to the surfaceground truths. Observations were made with wind velocities ranging from 0 to 12 m/s and with look angles from nadir to 40°. Preliminary measurements indicate that for this short wavelength, the Δ° curve does not appear to fall off as quickly as for the longer wavelengths. The problems encountered with using a short-pulse millimeter-wave radar as an environmental remote sensor are discussed, and some preliminary results are obtained. © 1990 IEEE
