摘要
Angular distributions for inelastically scattered protons leading to the 0.717-, 1.74-, 2.15-, 3.59-, 4.77-, and 6.04-MeV states in B10 were measured in 300-keV steps between 5 and 12 MeV and in 500-keV steps from 12 to 16 MeV. Yield curves for protons feeding these states were measured in 100-keV steps from 5 to 16 MeV at five angles. Resonance structures in the region 5≤Ep≤10 MeV were observed in the yield curves. The observed cross section for formation of the 6.04-MeV state was five times that for any of the lower-lying levels. A weak correspondence between the total cross section for formation of these states and its radiative-decay width Γ(E2) is noted. The experimental differential cross sections are compared with distorted-wave Born-approximation calculations. While the calculations are not in quantitative agreement with the experimental cross sections, some conclusions can be drawn from their qualitative similarities. © 1969 The American Physical Society.
