Lyme disease and myasthenia gravis

Lyme disease (borreliosis) is a rare vectorial disease in Turkey which may be presented various neurological tables. In this article presented a female with neuroborreliosis responsive to ceftriaxone and doxycycline. Two years after the initial diagnosis she was diagnosed myasthenia gravis with acetylcholine-receptor antibodies positive. The receptor antibodies were attributed to epitope homology of the acetylcholine receptors and Borrelia surface antigens. This case was found worthy of presentation to emphasize that cases of lyme disease may develop myasthenia gravis in follow-up period.
